| dc.description.abstract | Increase in global operations of the organization, economic recessions and rapid technological innovation has increased the number of white collared professionals and forced the organizations to develop an integrated approach in achieving competitive advantage. This project discusses research that was undertaken about the HR practices of Pakistan State Oil and Caltex. The group studied all the HR practices of the company but the main focus was to study the training and development of company’s employees. Since the two companies have different operating exposure. PSO is operating wholly in Pakistan. Whereas Caltex is operating in more than 180 countries. Caltex has diversified experience of operating in different cultures and economies. A theoretical framework is developed from a literature search and this is used by the group as model for further research. The group collected data within this framework and analyzed it according to the requirements of the project. According to PSO, Human Resource is the only asset that appreciates with the passage of time. Therefore, at PSO a strong focus on training and development of employees is considered a value added and worthwhile investment. At the end after the detailed study of the training and development practices used by the company some recommendations are made and on the basis of the analysis of company’s practices conclusions are drawn. | en_US |
