dc.description.abstract | The study area Safed koh anticlinorium is located in Punjab province of Pakistan. The area has been identified as compressional regime and is characterized by the Suleiman fold belt. The main purpose of research was to evaluate the prospects of Mesozoic reservoirs of the Suleiman fold belt. The study area includes twelve 2D migrated seismic sections and six wells. The area is important for its hydrocarbon traps. The main reservoirs are the Pab sandstone, Parh limestone, Lower Goru sands, Sembar sands Chiltan limestone and the Alozai Formation. Five horizons i.e. Dunghan and Parh limestones, Lower Goru Formation, Chiltan and Alozai formations were marked on the seismic sections with the help of synthetic seismogram of Dewan-01 well. On the basis of time and depth contour maps, geological study and interpretation of Google Earth image of the Safed Kho anticlinorium, isopachs maps and the correlations of different wells it is concluded that the source rock for hydrocarbon is the Sembar Formation. The hydrocarbon traps were most possibly developed in these anticlines. Based on petrophysical studies such as determination of the porosities, resistivity of water, saturation of water, movable hydrocarbons net to gross reservoir, net reservoir and net pay confirmed the presence of clean sandstone and limestone with variable porosity in the prospective zones. On Google Earth image of Safedkoh anticlinorium, the surface structural style of Dodhak, Rodho, Afiband and Zindapir anticlines has been delineated. The volumetric reserve calculation showed that the four anticlinal structures of Safedkoh have more than two trillion cubic feet of Gas in place in the Mesozoic reservoirs of the area. | en_US |
