dc.description.abstract Sawan field is located in the, Khairpur District, Sindh about 500 km north of Karachi having coordinates 68° 58’ 19.5” E and 27° 02’ 22.7” N. It occupies Sargodha Depression in lower Indus Basin. The profilic basin is located in the South East of Pakistan. The lower Indus basin is dominated by the structural traps. In the present work, an attempt has been made to correlate the results obtained by well logs to obtain a stratigraphic model of the study area. Well logs of Sawan 1 and Sawan 2 were acquired from Landmark Resources (LMKR) with the prior approval from the Directorate General of Petroleum Concession (DGPC). The foremost objective was to have an insight about the petrophysical characteristics of the area. Petrophysical evaluation of well Sawan 1 and Sawan 2 carried out to highlight the reservoir area which included the selection of interval of interest followed by Log interpretation. The volume of shale, porosity and density, hydrocarbon saturation and water saturation was interpreted by using different tools like gamma ray tool, porosity tool, density tool, resistivity tool, and sonic tool. On the basis of petrophysical evaluation it was noted that Goru Formation acting as a reservoir and the interbedded shale of lower Goru formation are acting as secondary source rock. en_US
