Abstract:
Meyal field is present in district Attock and more specifically close to
PindiGheb. It issituated 110 km southwestof Federal Capital Islamabad and is
bounded by latitudes 33o11′-33o22′ N and longitudes 71o59′-72o18′ E.
Meyal-06P well is part of the Meyal block which lies in the central part of
Potwar plateau of Upper Indus basin. The Kalachitta-Margalla Ranges are in the
north and the Salt Range is in the south. The Indus River and the Jhelum/Soan
rivers are passing on its western and eastern sides respectively. A number of active
surface as well as subsurface structural features dominates this part of Potwar
plateau.
The data provided to us included well tops and well logs of Meyal-06P. This
was acquired from Bahria University, Islamabad with the prior approval from the
Directorate General of Petroleum Concession (DGPC).
The main purpose was to observe and evaluate the petrophysical
characteristics of the well.Petrophysical analysis of well Meyal-06P included
marking the reservoir zones (pay zones) and carrying out log interpretation. Values
of volume of shale, density and neutron porosity as well as those obtained from
resistivity logs are marked. Water resistivity and saturation of water and
hydrocarbon are also calculated.
Results claim that there are two pay zones present in Meyal-06P. These are
the limestone present in the Chorgali and Sakesar formation. It is also noted that
Chorgali has a bigger contribution as reservoir.
