dc.description.abstract The main objective of the study was to evaluate hydrocarbon potential of Sanghar area in Southeren Indus Basin Pakistan by using wire line loging and seismic line. The data had been issued by Land Mark Resources, Pakistan with the prior permission of Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions, Pakistan. The seismic section were analyzed structurally to assess the suitable trap and the petrophysical analysis was carried out for the reservoir characterization. The analyses revealed the general style of deformation leading to the formation of a trapping facility for hydrocarbons. The petrophysical analysis furnished that the Lower Goru Formation is the main reservoir in the area and having the suitable attributes for a prospect. The area is under the Extensional Tectonic Regime which produced the Normal faulting in the region.Major Horst and Graben structures are formed due to process of rifting. The seismic sections are of lines 947- SGR(N)-277, 947-SGR(N)-278, 947-SGR(N)-280, 896.SGR.390.the reflectors were marked due to prominent reflection on the seismic section.root mean square interval velocities are used for the calculation of average velocities to convert the given time into depth.the reflector top lower goru is marked due to its prominent reflection on seismic sections due to data quality.the depth of the reflector are found by using velocities and one-way travel time.for the structural interpretation of the area .time and depth contour maps are generated.well data of Chak-05 Dim South-01 was used to mark the thickness of the indiviual formation on the geoseismic section. To complete the above mentioned task, all logs were correlated to mark the horizon of interest i.e. reservoir zone. In our case the reservoir existed in Lower Goru Formation of the Cretaceous age. After the demarcation of reservoir zone to the quick look interpretation for the Gamma ray and Resistivity Log. en_US
