Emotion detection using digital image processing

Abstract

The system Emotion detection automatically detects the human emotions. Emotion Detection is able to detect emotion of one specific person. There are insurmountable emotions which can be displayed by a person are not that easy to detect so Emotion Detection can detect such an emotion and tells what it is about. A happy person has an utterly different gesticulation as compared to the sad one. Emotion Detection can differentiate between such emotions and tell what emotion is it. The system is able to correctly detect three emotions: happy, sad, surprise and neutral. The key purpose of the project was to detect emotion of the user on run time. The system uses simple three step way to do this by first detecting the face then on that face it extract the features of the face and in the end it detects and display the emotion of the user. The objective of the project was to make this application for people who interact with people a lot like psychiatrist who deal with patient and need to know what exactly the emotion of the person is at that very moment. The major modules of the project are face detection, feature extraction, capture image and display emotion.
