Meyal-10 is located in northern Punjab and administratively lies in Meyal
village of Pindi-Gheb, Tehsil of District Attock. Tectonically well lies in Western
Potwar plateau, Upper Indus Basin. Northern and southern boundaries of Potwar
plateau are marked by MBT and SRT respectively, while eastern and western
boundaries are marked by left lateral Jhelum Fault (JF) and right lateral Kalabagh
Fault (KBF).
For petro physical analysis of Meyal-10 well log data along with well tops
have been acquired from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences,
Bahria University, Islamabad. Using well log and tops data zones of interests have
been marked i.e. the possible reservoir zones, followed by their detailed analysis
while calculating volume of shale, density, neutron and sonic porosities and resistivity
of water has been calculated for water and hydrocarbon saturation of reservoir zones,
finally net pay zone has been identified based on different cut offs of shale volume,
effective porosity and water saturation.
Whole research study of Meyal-10 indicates presence of four possible
reservoir zones in Sakaesar, Nammal, Upper Rani Kot and Lockhart limestone sealed
by the shales of Patala and Chorgali formations. |
