| dc.description.abstract | The SEP performance of digital modulation schemes of MPSK, MFSK, MSQAM and MXQAM is presented in this Thesis report over Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel and fading channels (Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Nakagami-q and Nakagami-n). The SEP expressions are derived in terms of Moment Generating Functions and Q-functions which are easily understandable. This SEP performance is evaluated for different number of symbols and adequate analysis is provided for communication designers for the choice of modulation scheme on the basis of the available SNR. In this context, cross QAM, Square QAM, FSK, PSK will be analyzed over Additive white gaussian noise and the fading channels which includes Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Nakagami-q, Nakagami-n and Beckmann. SEP performance of cross QAM is optimized by making use of multiple diversity combining techniques including selection combining, maximal ratio combining and generalized selection combining. For Equal Energy Case over all the previously described fading channels the SEP performance of cross and rectangular QAM has been compared. These modulation techniques also has many applications where XQAM used in blind equalization, here channel's impulse response is estimated by the equalizer without knowing past knowledge about the channel behavior. | en_US |
