Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to discuss the role of intangible project management assets on project
level performance (sharing know-how) with the role of VRIO (valuable, rare, inimitable and
organizational support). Data collection is done through questionnaires that are distributed to the
project managers and their team within five organizations of telecom sector of Pakistan including
Telenor, Zong, Mobilink, Warid and Ufone. Explanatory analysis is used to investigate the proper
practice of intangible asset that is an independent variable on the role of VRIO that adds value to
the project level performance (dependent variable).
The results confirmed the role of intangible project management asset to influence the project level
performance in telecom sector of Pakistan. The study also identified significant role of VRIO
(valuable, rare, inimitable, and organizational support) to achieve project level performance in the
projects. This study is a step to draw project manager’s attention to the importance of intangible
assets which add value to project level performance. The intangible assets is the sharing know how
where the project management tools and technical are implemented.
This thesis contributes to the literature on the intangible project management assets, VRIO and the
resource based view of the firm. It contributes to an improved understanding of project
management as a source of project level performance.
