Abstract:
Global warming is a major problem the world is facing now-a-days and due to change in
temperature, other environmental parameters are also affected. Glacial melting, changing patterns
of monsoon and hence rainfall are some of the major problems faced by Pakistan due to global
warming which affects urban areas more than the rural areas. However change in rainfall patterns
have also affected rural areas and the crop yield. Research was conducted in order to see the change
in annual rainfall, maximum and minimum temperature and future trends in Faisalabad District by
using R software. Faisalabad is facing temperature change and due to this, average monthly rainfall
and humidity is affected. A 30 years data (1980 to 2009) was analysed in order to measure the
change in these parameters and assessed the future trends up to 2099 using R software. A change
of 0.5oC to 4oC was observed, for average maximum and minimum temperature in months. The
temperature has crossed 35oC as annual temperature in most of the years. Similarly, more than
925mm was assessed in year 1987 which is highest annual rainfall recorded. In 2007 IPCC
mentioned in their report that temperature has been changed about 0.6 o C over the last century and
is expected to increase about 1.4 o C to 5.8 o C till the end of this century. It is inferred from the
results of R software that the change of temperature is about more than 4 o C approximately which
shows validity of software results.
