dc.description.abstract This is a case study on Metro cash & carry Pakistan Limited’s managing its risks in the fresh food Supply Chain– as a holistic chain in Pakistan’s prospective. In the contemporary business world managing and mitigating risks in the businesses play a pivotal role in the overall profitability. Risks are many faceted i.e, legal/political, social, operational/technical, natural and economic. To manage and mitigate these risks, companies must have an effective action plan. The companies like Metro-Habib, which is heavily dependent on effective and efficient supply chain can convert it in its competitive advantage if proper care is taken to control and mitigate the supply chain risks. RQ-1: Identify the existing risks in the supply chain of fresh provisions of the company? RQ-2: Identify Action Plan for mitigating these risks effectively? The basic purpose of this study is to add to the existing knowledge on risks mitigating strategies in supply chain of fresh food. The experiential statistics and the deduction which are drawn from it are built on qualitative evidences that are collected through interviews and questionnaires. The results and conclusion are based on the questions asked from the heads of concerned sections at Metro-Habib and the secondary data. This study is undertaken from a positivistic viewpoint with a deductive method. Different types of risk deduction methods and strategies for operational, strategic and visibility level are proposed like information sharing, training, coordination, monitoring to counter the most important risks in the fresh food supply chain e.g. wrong ordering, FIFO (loose practice) and contamination of provisions. en_US
