dc.description.abstract | Automated Teller Machine (ATM) is also known as ABM (Automated Banking Machine), cashpoint, cashline, cash machine, or hole in the wall. It is an electronic banking outlet or a device that allows the bank customers to complete basic financial transactions without the help of a bank teller, cashier or human clerk. Traditional ATM systems authenticate generally by using the credit card and the password, the method has some defects. Using credit card and password cannot verify the client's identity exactly. Someone having an ATM card with a PIN number known does not justify that this is his own CARD. So the financial crime case rises repeatedly in recent years. A lot of criminals tamper with the ATM terminal and steal user's credit card and password by illegal means. Once user's bank card is lost and the password is stolen, the criminal will draw all cash in the shortest time, which will bring enormous financial losses to customer. So the project is to develop a smart Automated Teller Machine ATM. This machine uses finger print Impression instead of ATM Cards. For this we are using a finger print module. The user’s finger print impression is already saved in the database of Bank. When the user tries to login in the account, the finger print is identified and verified by the system and if it is valid then the user is asked to enter a security code or account number. On valid entry of Security code, the user can make transaction. A fingerprint is believed to be unique to each person and also each finger. It is unique in terms of the arrangement of its minutiae. Even identical twins have different fingerprints and they do not change over time. That’s why among all the biometrics techniques, finger base identification is the oldest method which has been successfully used in many applications. They are one of the most mature technologies and considered legitimate evidence in courts of law all over the world. It is also used in forensic investigations. Recently an increasing number of civilian and commercial applications are either using or actively considering using finger based identification because of the better understanding of finger prints. Another idea we presented here is the use of solar energy to drive ATMs. So we are using solar panel in our project to remove the electricity consumption. Solar power is the conversion of the energy from the sun to usable electricity. The most common source of solar power utilizes photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity. Photovoltaic cells utilize a semi-conductor to absorb the radiation from the sun, when the semi-conductor absorbs this radiation it emits electrons, which are harnessed as electricity. | en_US |
