Abstract:
Radio frequency identification (RFID) is the most versatile emerging technology which has
greatly revolutionized our lives in the area of ubiquitous systems.RFID is the replacement of barcodes. RFID system requires no light-of-sight contact, is a robust system and has a
remarkable speed. Due to these advantages, RFID becomes more protuberant than itsother competing systems. RFID system consists of three main components: tag, reader and back-end database. The medium between the tag and reader is wireless, so there are great threats to the system from malicious adversaries. In order to make the medium secure, many researchers proposed the authentication protocols to oppose the security attacks. However, since low-cost RFID tags have very limited hardware resources, it is not easy to design it. So many researchers have proposed lightweight authentication protocols which comprises of pseudorandom number generators (PRNG) in their designs. These random numbers introduces the randomness in the systems.Usually this practice is not appreciated because the outputs of these PRNG go beyond the limits of low cost RFID tags.Therefore it is needed to propose an algorithm of Lightweight PRNG which will be significant for different RFID protocols without disturbing the cost of RFID Tag.In this project, the efficient hardware
implementation of numerous lightweight PRNGs (LCG, LFSR, AKARI-1, AKARI-2, Gold
code sequence generator) has been performed. Then a novel ultra-lightweight pseudorandom
number generator ‘Extremely lightweight PRNG’ (EL-PRNG) using Recursive hash has been proposed and optimally implemented.Statistical properties of these generators have also been checked on the randomness test suite. These generators have implemented on XILINX design suite using the verilog language to check their practical feasibility and for circuit synthesis.
