Abstract:
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is among the incredibly growing technologies in the field of ubiquitous systems. RFID systems make use of the radio frequency signals for the process of communication. RFID systems are far better than the other contending systems such as the Bar code and magnetic tapes as it provides optimal communication link with a non line of sight capability. RFID systems play an important role in almost every field especially for the automatic identifications. Architecture of RFID system basically consists of the three basic entities that include Tag, Reader and the Database (Backend server).
As RFID industry is emerging in a significant manner all over, due to its massive deployment, RFID systems has also raised many issues regarding the security of these systems. Many ultralightweight mutual authentication protocols (over 3000) have been proposed previously to cater the security problems. But almost all of these protocols have weaknesses and they are prone to the passive attacks. Hence, there exist a significant need of introducing the security algorithms that need to be flawless and they are efficient enough to target the Low Cost Passive RFID Tags.
In our project we have addressed this problem and proposed a novel ultralightweight mutual authentication protocol along with their generic hardware architecture for EPC-C1G2 tags. Along with the novel protocol, we have also simulated six ultralightweight mutual authentication protocols that include LMAP, EMAP, SASI, David Prasad, RAPP and RCIA using ModelSim PE and synthesized using Xilinx Suite 14.5. We believe that the proposed architecture and simulated results will act as the stepping stone for the future implementation of these low cost RFID tags for ASIC.
