Location Based Android Application For Tourists

Abstract

Traveling and Tourism is historically an evergreen activity. Advancements in transportation and communication technologies has introduced a new dimension in this phenomenon practiced by millions of people around the world yearly, Pakistan is also a rich country for tourism. Finding places of personal interests to visit with ease is a genuine problem for people in unknown locations. An Android platform Application (APP) is being created for the benefit of travelers and tourists, local and outsiders, to help them find areas of their own personal interests and location of their destination. The Application is developed specifically for the Islamabad and Rawalpindi region initially. This Application will also allow users to record short reviews of the places they visited to help prospective users. The application is developed in the JAVA programming language, using the Eclipse interface while the user interface created using the XML. This project realistically gives us a very real idea of Application development and brings an invaluable experience of working in a team. This Application will hopefully be a stepping stone for us to accomplish our individual goals in our professional lives.
