Abstract

The purpose of our project is to help the users find their nearby friends through their smartphones with the help of a gps. GPS friend finder allows you to see the location of any friends or family members through their mobile phones. All you have to do is to get this app and install it on the phone of your friend whom you want to locate. Its basic purpose is to find the nearby friend but it can also be used to find the lost mobile. The features of this application are that the application would be able to communicate with GPS device through Bluetooth interface. It also allows the user to maintain a friend; list (Add/Remove/Edit friends from the list) User will locate the nearby friends User will be able to track the specific friend. User can get the route directions and map of the Meeting Point. Supports to invite all the nearest friends at one go. It uses the global positioning system to establish the exact location of a person. After this, it transmits the information to your internet connected phone. In this way you can know the exact location of your friends and family members. You just have to install friend finder on your then create and activate your account and start locating your nearest friends. It will use a web service to send and receive the location of different people. The user can find his own location as well as his friends’ location any time he wants. He just has to sign up with proper name and id to start using this application. Once he has signed up then he needs to send request to someone whom he wants to add as a friend. If the request is accepted then he can start tracking that friend down and find him whenever he is close to him. Web service will be keeping track of all the user data and user would be able to access it any time he wants. There are different social networking websites with which friends can communicate with each other but none of them provides a platform to track friends location. It is still a developing concept and users do not know much about this fact that their cell phones would be available to track their friends whenever they are nearby and they can meet. Moreover some previous software that have been developed in the same domain are so difficult to use that the users get fed up after using it a few times. This is very easy to use and has a very user friendly interface even a lay man can use it quite easily.
