dc.description.abstract The following report details the research and development of a solar powered school system. Solar energy is rapidly gaining importance as an energy resource as fossil fuels prices fluctuate at educational level it is therefore critical for engineering students to have an understanding and appreciation of the technology associated with renewable energy. One of the popular renewable energy resource is solar energy. To make solar energy more viable, the efficiency of solar cell must be maximized. Proposed in this report is a solar powered school system that contains solar panel aligned to the direction of sun as the panel is always maintained normal to the sun rays, maximum power is generated with the panel. Its efficiency is further increased by adding an interrupted power supply(UPS). Problem and possible improvements will also be presented. We will also demonstrate a working system thus validating the design. en_US
