| dc.description.abstract | The main objective of this dissertation is to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the Kahi-01. Geographically Kahi-01 is located at Lat. 33º 27′ 12.7” N and Long. 70º 55′ 57.25” E at a distance of 248 km northwest of Islamabad city and can be accessed through various routes. Tectonically study area is located in Kohat plateau, Upper Indus basin. Structurally Kahi-01 area is highly deformed and very complex due to intense faulting. These faults are thrust faults formed as result of transpressional regime. To evaluate the potential of hydrocarbons physical properties were calculated and analyzed petrophysical analysis. Zone of interest was marked ranging from 5560- 5710ft i.e Hangu Formation. This zone has average porosity 6.12%, effective porosity 4.66%, water saturation 73.16% and hydrocarbon saturation 26.84%. The prospect interval identified within Hangu Formation is not very promising due to low percentage of hydrocarbon saturation and high percentage of water saturation. | en_US |
