Abstract:
Kot-Sarang field is located in district Chakwal near Talagang, 140 km away from Islamabad, bounded by latitudes 33°2'14 N and longitudes 72°23'11 E and it lies in the central part of Potwar plateau of Upper Indus basin. The Potwar sub basin is dominated by the structural traps. In the present work, an attempt has been made to correlate the results obtained by well logs to obtain a structural model of the study area. Well tops and well logs of Kot-Sarang 02 were acquired from Landmark Resources (LMKR) with the prior approval from the Directorate General of Petroleum Concession (DGPC). The foremost objective was to have an insight about the petrophysical characteristics of the area.
Petrophysical evaluation of well Kot-Sarang-02 carried out to highlight the reservoir area which included the selection of zone of interest followed by Log interpretation. On the basis of Gamma Ray, Sonic, Caliper, SP and Resistivity logs petrophysical evaluation is carried out which include carbonate reservoirs of Lockhart, Wargal and Amb are contributing as three reservoir zones in the area. Amb has the larger contribution than Wargal and Lockhart.
