Abstract:
The main purpose of the study is to do the structural interpretation and reserve
estimation of Turkwal area, Potwar Indus Basin, Pakistan. It comprises of
compressional regimes having anticlinal and pop-up structure. Three reflectors are
marked to check the structure lying underneath. The top reflector is of Chorgali
Formation, the middle is of Sakesar Limestone and the last one is of Patala Shale. To
see reflector position time and depth sections were prepared. Time and depth contour
map shows subsurface structure is bounded by a fault. Forward Modelling has been
done in the form of Synthetic Seismogram. Synthetic Seismograms helps in the
identification of horizons on the basis of reflection coefficient. Petrophysical analysis
of Turkwal deep-01 was carried out to highlight the reservoir area which included the
selection of zone of interest followed by log interpretation. Basic purpose was to
understand the variation in porosities throughout the reservoir zone. Effective
porosity, water saturation and hydrocarbon saturation was computed which were 4 %,
32 % and 68 % respectively. The above results were used to carry out the reserve
estimation to calculate the original oil and recoverable oil in place. The values
determined were 340.94MMbbl for original oil in place and 102.28MMbbl for
recoverable oil.
