Abstract:
Migrated seismic lines TJ-89-611, TJ-89-604, and TJ-89-606 of Tajjal area and
Well top data of well Judge 01 of the Southern Indus basin were obtained from
Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions (DGPC), Islamabad for seismic
interpretation. Seismic line TJ-89-611 is oriented NS and seismic lines TJ-89-604 and TJ-
89-606 are oriented EW. The velocity information required was given within the seismic
sections that helped in the conversion of the time sections into depth sections. These
calculations helped in the subsurface structural interpretation of the area, which was the
basic purpose of this project. Five reflectors were marked that were the Sui Main
Limestone, Lower Goru, D Interval, B Interval and Chiltan formations. Normal faults
were marked, and then time contour maps were generated. Time sections were converted
into depth sections with the help of average velocity and finally depth contour maps were
generated to know the basic mechanism of the tectonic movement in the area. Based on
the 2D seismic interpretation the rocks were found dipping in the southeast at all levels
from Sui Main Limestone to the Chiltan limestone. It was further concluded that the
structural dip of the Chiltan Limestone stands steeper as compared to the adjacent
lithologies. The seismic study confirms the lower Goru Formation is the main
hydrocarbon reservoir of the area.
