dc.description.abstract The main purpose of the dissertation is to evaluate the structure and hydrocarbon potential using seismic and well log data of Meyal area, Pakistan. Meyal area lies in district Attock, near PindiGheb, Upper Indus Basin Pakistan. The Potwar sub-basin is situated at the northern margin of the Pakistan in the western foothills of Himalaya. It comprises of the Potwar plateau, the Jhelum plain and the Salt Range. The Meyal structure is thought to be enriched by potential hydrocarbon, trapped up dip from the depocentre of Soan depression. The targeted Formations were of Eocene, Permian and Cambrian age. For structural enhancement, five migrated seismic lines i.e.97-MYL-01, 97-MYL-02, 97-MYL-03, 97-MYL-04 (dip lines) and 97-MYL-13 (strike line) were used. Time and depth contour maps of four horizons, Chorgali Formation, Sakesar Formation, Lockhart Formation and Datta Formation were generated which confirmed the Pop up anticline structures in the subsurface. For petrophysical analysis one zone has been marked at the level of Chorgali Formation whereas three zones have been marked at the level of Sakesar Formation. The volumetric analysis was alsodone which inferred that Chorgali Formation is more promising as compared to Sakesar Formation on the basis of effective porosity. en_US
