| dc.description.abstract | The basic objective of the study is to get preliminary understanding of the subsurface structural trend and stratigraphy of the cited area. Seismic data interpretation eventually resulted in outcomes as time and depth contour maps. Pirkoh area is a part of Potwar sub-basin of the Middle Indus Basin of Pakistan. It is an anticlinal closure bounded by a Main Thrust Fault and its Back Thrust Fault that were generated as a result of collision of the Indian and the Afghan Block which is proved by using the 2D move software for structural restoration work. Seismic lines were shot by OGDCL in the year 1981. The seismic lines are dip and strike lines. Seismic line 806-PRK-06/EXT is a strike line and the others are dip lines. Four reflectors namely Upper Ranikot Formation, Lower Ranikot Formation, Pab Sandstone Formation, Mughalkot Formation, were marked on the seismic section on the basis of depth and velocity information of these formations. Time contour maps of the reflectors were produced using two way time of the reflectors. RMS velocities were used to find the depths of the formations for the seismic section. Stratigraphic correlation of wells was done to follow the general trend of lithologies of Pirkoh area. | en_US |
