dc.description.abstract This dissertation contains the study and interpretation of 2D seismic reflection data of selected seismic lines of Khushalgarh Block, Kohat plateau upper Indus Basin, Pakistan. The main objective of this research is delineation of subsurface structures favorable for hydrocarbon accumulation. This area is situated in the Attock District Punjab Province and is explored by Pakistan Oil Limited (POL). The seismic data for this research work was provided by the Land Mark Resources (LMKR) by the permission of Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions (DGPC). The data comprised five seismic lines, base map and well tops of well Jalwal-01. The names of lines obtained are: 86-KH- 97, 86-KH-21, 86-KH-22, 86-KH-23 and 86-KH-24. One prominent reflector (red) is marked on the basis of its reflection character i.e Kohat Formation. Two-way time (TWT) was read from the seismic sections and average velocities were used to create TWT and Depth Contour maps. Rock physical analysis of Kohat Formation is done in the research work. Values of elastic modules and density of the formation are calculated from Primary waves arrival time. Petrophysical analysis of Kohat Formation shows that from 3500 to 3600 m, has high volume of shale, low effective porosity, high water saturation and low hydrocarbon saturation making it a water wet well thus it is not good reservoir. en_US
