dc.description.abstract | The main intention of the study is to evaluate hydrocarbon potential of the Pindori oil field, Potwar sub basin Pakistan and delineation of prospects or leads. The study area is situated between 72.3º and 73.2ºE longitude and 33.0º and 33.3ºN latitude. This has been achieved by petrophysical analysis using Geographix. Las files for this study was provided by the Land Mark Resources (LMKR) by the permission of Directorate General of Petroleum Concession (DGPC). In order to achieve hydrocarbon potential of Pindori well no 01, 02 and 03, used all suit of wireline logs i.e (gamma ray log, sp log, resistivity log, density log, neutron log and sonic log). The study area is highly important in every respect (i.e. geological, geophysical and seismological point of view). The area is present in high compressional regime and there is huge fracturing due to this reason. This area has the trapping structure with the good reservoir rock that is very much productive. Tectonically, this is highly compressional regime with the thrust faulting. Patala Formation is acting as a source rock. The formations studied for reservoir potential includes Chorgali Formation, Sakesar Formation and Lockhart Formation in Pindori well no 01, Chorgali Formation, Sakesar Formation and Lockhart Formation in Pindori well no 02 and Chorgali Formation, Sakesar Formation in Pindori well no 03. The studies furnished different reservoir parameters that include volume of shale, porosity, water saturation, and hydrocarbon saturation. Overall Pindori well 01, 02 & 03 shows fair quality of reservoir due to very tight formation and low average porosity. Hydrocarbon potential of Pindori well is fair having average shale volume of (11 % - 20 %) and average porosity of (2.2 % to – 5.4 %). | en_US |
