Abstract:
Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan's economy, contributing significantly to its GDP
and employing much of its rural population. However, Pakistani farmers face persistent
challenges, including dependency on middlemen, limited access to competitive markets,
and lack of price transparency. These issues exacerbate financial hardships, making
farming less profitable and sustainable.
This report presents the development of an E- commerce auction-based platform Farm
Connect, tailored for Pakistani farmers, designed to connect them directly with buyers
through a transparent bidding system. Recognizing the low levels of digital literacy in
rural areas, the platform incorporates an intuitive voice-assisted interface in local
language, ensuring accessibility for all users. The system enables farmers to list their
crops, initiate real-time auctions on them, and getting a competitive price for their crops,
thereby promoting fair trade practices.
This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide in Pakistani agriculture, empower
farmers, and enhance the agricultural supply chain's efficiency and equity. This localized
approach ensures that the platform not only addresses systemic issues in Pakistani
agriculture but also bridges the technological and accessibility gaps unique to the region.
By focusing on voice assistance in Urdu language and, this project sets the stage for
empowering farmers and fostering a more equitable agricultural ecosystem in Pakistan.
