| dc.description.abstract | The present research attempts to identify the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT) on depressive tendencies and adherence to medication among diabetics. For this purpose, a sample of 10 patients (5 males and 5 females) were selected with age range 20-60 years through convenient sampling technique. To achieve the objectives of the study Centre for Epidemiological Studies- Depression Scale (CES-D) (Radloff, 1977) with α= .90 and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) (Morisky DE, Green LW, Levine DM, 1986) with α=.83 were used. Both measures had satisfactory cronbach alpha and internal consistency. It was hypothesized that CBT would decrease the depressive tendencies and increase the adherence to medication. The data was analyzed using paired sample t-test. To measure the difference pre and post testing was done .After the intervention there was a significant difference on depressive tendencies and adherence to medication on the scales. Results revealed that adherence to medication was enhanced and depressive tendencies were significantly reduced among the diabetic participants. Further results also indicated no significant demographic variables were related the variables. In the end, some limitations of the study were mentioned with plausible suggestions. | en_US |
