Abstract:
This study examined the relationship of parental rejection with cognitive distortions and bully behaviour of adolescents. Sample comprised of 200 adolescents from age 12- 16 years, both males (n=100) and females (n=100). The data was collected from different school and colleges of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The instruments used to study variables were Illinois Bully Scale –IBS (Espelage & Holt, 2001), Children Parental Acceptance/Rejection Questionnaire-PARQ-Short Form (Rohner, 1990) and Children Negative Cognitive Error Questionnaire (Harold, Leonard & Marilyn 1986). Reliability of these tests was highly significant. The results indicated statistically significant relationship between the variables. Positively significant relationship was found between Parental Rejection (mother and father) with Bully Behaviour (p=<0.01), Parental Rejection (mother and father) with Cognitive Distortion (p=<0.01), and Cognitive Distortion with Bully Behaviour (p=<0.01). In the end some limitations of the study were mentioned with plausible suggestions.
