| dc.description.abstract | The inclusion of Machine Type Communication (MTC) in 5G technology has motivated the research community to explore new derivative waveforms of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). Filter Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC), Universal Filtered Multi-Carrier (UFMC) and Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing (GFDM) techniques are under evaluation with respect to their suitability to 5G requirements. In addition to acceptable performance, investigation on computational complexity reduction can help in selecting among different candidate waveforms for 5G. Hence, recently some low complexity solutions are proposed for UFMC implementations without compromising the performance. In this thesis, we have shown that the computations can be further reduced in the IFFT operations. Moreover, based on the simplification the filter design can be significantly reduced. Based on our simplification solution we have proposed hardware architecture of UFMC for 10MHz baseline channelization of LTE. Both software and hardware descriptive models are created and finally implemented the design on FPGA. | en_US |
