Impact of Project Management Assets on Project Management Performance

Abstract

Research studies have highlighted the importance project management assets and its significant impact on project performance. This study highlights the characteristics of project management assets being valuable, rare, inimitable and comprising organizational support and their individual impact on project performance. Specifically, the project management assets are of great importance in creating a conducive environment for the project team to meet higher performance challenges. In this research, the role of project management assets and its impact on project performance is identified using the literature and a research model is developed. Then surveys and structured questionnaires were used to collect data and analyzed using statistical techniques i.e. Exploratory Factor Analysis, Internal consistency reliability ( coefficient alpha), Pearson’s correlation, ANOVA and regression analysis techniques are employed to determine the effect of variables on one another. Results of the study indicate that project management assets have vital impact on project management performance. All the four project management asset characteristics i.e. valuable, rare, inimitable and organizational support are found to have significant impact on project management performance.
