The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of e-government on project success in the public sector of Punjab, Pakistan and how self-efficacy and employee’s trust as a mediating role between e-government and project success. Self- efficacy emerges as a critical mediator in this relationship. Government employees who perceive themselves as capable of utilizing e-government tools are more likely to demonstrate higher levels of commitment, innovation, and adaptability in project execution. Employee’s trust, as another mediating variable, plays a pivotal role in facilitating the relationship between e-government and project success. A high level of trust in the e-government system fosters cooperation, information sharing, and collaboration among employees and stakeholders. This trust-building process creates a conducive environment for effective project management, leading to favorable project outcomes.
Data was collected from 242 respondents in the Tourism, Archaeology, and Museums Department of the Government of Punjab, Pakistan, using a Google form questionnaire survey. Smart PLS was used to analyze the data through Partial Least Squared-Structural Equation modeling. Our results indicate that E-Government has a significant positive impact on project success. Moreover, self-efficacy and employee’s trust were found to mediate the relationship between e-government and project success.
The findings suggest that implementing e-government in the public sector project of Punjab, Pakistan improves self-efficacy and trust, which enhances project success. Furthermore, the implementation of e-government initiatives promotes the development of self-efficacy and trust in the system, resulting in increased project success. |
