Green Procurement, Green Innovation and Green Supply Chain Management : Evidence from the Automobile Manufacturing Sector in Pakistan

Abstract

This study investigates the interrelationship among green procurement (GP), green innovation (GI), and green supply chain management (GSCM) in the context of Pakistan's automobile manufacturing sector. As environmental concerns intensify due to climate change, pollution, and dwindling resources, companies are under growing pressure to align with sustainable business practices. The automobile sector, known for its significant environmental footprint, has an important role in driving sustainability transformations. This research explores how GP and GI influence GSCM and evaluates the mediating role of GI in the relationship between GP and GSCM. Data were collected from 150 professionals in Pakistan's automotive industry. Using structural equation modeling (SEM), the results affirm significant positive relationships among all three constructs. The study contributes to the body of knowledge by offering empirical insights specific to an emerging economy and proposes strategic recommendations for enhancing sustainability in manufacturing and supply chain networks.
