Abstract:
This study Perceived social support trauma of discrimination and psychological distress
among university students living in hostel . A Co relational study design was employed, and
data will be collected from a sample of adults (N = 219) using standardized measures,
including the Multidimensional Scale of Perceivedd Social Support (MSPSS) was employed
to assess perceivedd social support from family, friends, and significant others, Trauma
Symptoms of Discrimination Scale (TSDS) was employed to assess trauma of discrimination
related symptoms resulting from experiences of discrimination, Kessler Psychological
Distress Scale (K10)to assess the measure psychological distress by assessing symptoms of
anxiety and depression. The descriptive statistic was run to assess mean and SD, frequencies
and percentages. The Shapiro Wilk test was run to check skewness of data, Pearson product
moment correlation was run to find Perceived social support scale, trauma of discrimination
scale and psychological distress scale . Moderation analysis (Baron and Kenny mediation
analysis) was performed to find out the Moderation role of Trauma of discrimination between
perceived social support and Psychological distress.
