Abstract:
The significance of geo strategic position of Pakistan is admired by the international
community in many dimensions along with its capacity and viability of shipping business and
trade. This thesis analyzes that how the state of Pakistan revamped its domestic legal
framework under the ambit of international legal framework for sustainable shipping business.
This thesis also highlighted the existing legal and administrative infrastructure for shipping
business in Pakistan, and explored the improvements needed for making shipping business of
Pakistan sustainable. There is a need of time that the practical measures should be taken by the
concerned authorities and policy makers for achieving the goals of sustainable shipping
business and blue economy by following the internationally recognized standards and
practices, and implementation of domestic and international laws in true letter and spirit. These
findings aim to help policy makers, decision makers and lawmakers to amend practicable
preparedness strategies. The doctrinal legal research methodology has been followed. It adopts
critical and analytical method along with qualitative conduct of the research.
