dc.description.abstract The problem that we’re tackling through the development of this project is the incorrect usage of tenses in communication within the English Language medium. The English Language is now the global language, being globally used as the standard for communication in most developed countries. If one wishes to be able to succeed professionally, one must be effective communication using the English Language. Tenses are a part of the English language that influence effective communication. If one is not familiar with the correct use of tenses, it becomes difficult for any sort of proper communication to take place. The Error-Driven English Language Teacher looks to solve this problem by offering users a way to learn the correct usage of tenses by having their mistakes corrected. People with a Growth Mind-set are more inclined to learn after they have their mistakes corrected, as this teaches them not to make the same mistake again [1]. The Error-Driven English Language Teacher works by accepting a sentence in the English language, in the form of text inputted by the user. The user may also avail the speech-to-text option given by the app. The user then choses from one of the three main tenses, and then from one of their four sub groups. The sentence is then broken down into individual words. These words are then compared to words in the corpus i.e. a database of verbs and their different types and the appropriate changes are made according to the tense that the user has chosen. This project is developed using the Android operating system andit should be noted that the app will not take into account any misspelling of words or incorrect grammar. At the very worst, and incorrect changing of sentences will take place. Recommendations for future development and conclusions are also included in the report. en_US
