2D Seismic Interpretation and Structual Analysis and Restoration of Rajian Area, Potwar Basin, Pakistan

Abstract

The current study will use seismic structural interpretation to map and analyze the subsurface geometries found in the Rajian area's eastern Potwar sub-basin. To achieve this goal, 2D seismic data together with well tops were collected, followed by seismic interpretation. The creation of TWT and depth contour maps. Seismic analysis indicates the occurrence of a duplex zone bordered by SRT as a solo thrust from the bottom and a back thrust F4 as a roof thrust from the top, as well as the presence of three imbricated fault sheets along F2, F3, all of which folded to produce various stacking patterns, indicating favorable geometries for hydrocarbon accumulation. Structural restoration was conducted on the move to better understand the following evolution of this deformation, which occurs sequentially, similar to sequence thrusting. Where, principal displacement were transported along base decollement SRT and divided along imbrication F1, F2, and F3 to the roof thrust F4, which dip towards south forming a stacked geometry and a passive roof duplex with greatest shortening at the Eocene level.
