dc.description.abstract | This thesis examines theimpacts of transportation networks on maritime interests of Pakistan. Pakistan’s transportation network is barely fulfilling the requirements of trade and connectivity. The transport system is not well integrated and port’s connectivity (through road, rail & air) also stands as a missing link. By assessing the ground realities, the study evaluates the role of ports and transportation linkages while comparing them with neighbouring maritime states. The mega infrastructural developments and connectivity linkages of China, Iran and India have been underscored to assess the challenges posed to Pakistan in this context. The research explores the role of Pakistan’s ports to act as transit hubs for the regional/ land locked states. The thesis assesses the challenges and weigh them under multi-stream policy framework. The analysis is made through qualitative methodology and quantitative analysis of the primary data. The thesis discusses broader implications/ findings and put forward tangible recommendations. The research concludes with recommendations towards policy and political streams to establish centralized body with clear mandate to act on behalf of Federal government, device integrated transportation system & trade connectivity through comprehensive policy articulation and implementation mechanism. vi | en_US |
