Abstract:
The project confines the development of an ECG amplifier for an ECG-signal without any noise, save it
and interfacing it to wireless communication with the aims to measure the cardiac sinus rhythm,
detection of QRS complex and the diagnosis of the cardiac arrhythmia in a case study. The wireless
communication is being done with the usage of Zigbee.
The context for this project is the integration of wireless communication in medical applications for
home healthcare as well as the clinical usage. This means that the patients are no longer hound to a
specific healthcare center or location where they are monitored by medical instruments and their
specialized users and also ii would decrement the iong waits due to the shortage of the physicians or
medical instruments especially in the government hospitals and clinics. Wireless communication will
not only provide them with safe and accurate monitoring but also the freedom of movement.
A challenge of the wireless communication by using zigbee is to send the signals as wireless
information, making possibly communication faster, without the loss of signals and the addition of noise
in the ECG-signal with an amplified view at the base station.
It involves three electrodes attached to the real-time patient that are the right arm , right leg and the left
leg from which the electrical activity of the heart is acquired, amplified, filtered and sent wirelessly to
the base station that is a GUI for the post processing.
