Abstract:
This thesis examines the relationship between Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices and firm sustainable performance, with a focus on the mediating roles of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) and firm size within the textile industry. Using a correlational study design, data was collected through surveys from managers in ISO-certified textile firms in Pakistan. The research explores how the implementation of GHRM and GSCM practices impacts environmental, social, and economic performance and identifies the challenges firms face in adopting green practices. The study also investigates whether GSCM practices (inbound and outbound) mediate the relationship between GHRM and firm performance. The results suggest that GHRM practices significantly enhance firm performance, with both inbound and outbound GSCM practices serving as mediators. Outbound GSCM practices exhibited a stronger mediating effect compared to inbound practices. The findings also reveal that larger firms are more likely to adopt green practices, driven by greater resources, whereas smaller firms face barriers such as limited resources, knowledge gaps, and resistance to change. This study highlights the importance of integrating GHRM with GSCM practices to achieve better environmental, social, and economic outcomes. It provides valuable insights into how firms can overcome challenges and leverage green practices for improved sustainability performance. The research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on sustainable business practices and offers practical recommendations for firms seeking to enhance their green initiatives.
