Enhancing Sustainability in Pakistan’s Pharmaceutical Industry: The Role of Green Procurement, Innovation and Total Quality Management

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Green Procurement, Green Innovation & Total Quality Management on Sustainability in the Pharmaceutical Industry of Pakistan. Natural resources are depleting at the rate that if we all human beings don’t work on conserving them, then the future generations will have to bear the consequences. This study is important as Pharmaceutical Industry of Pakistan is one of the biggest manufacturers and due to financial constraints and awareness many pharmaceutical companies still face issues in implementing green supply chain practice to reduce the negative impact of different elements on the environment. Quantitative research technique was adopted to conduct this study, and the questionnaire was shared with 103 employees in the supply chain department of 25 Pharmaceutical companies of Pakistan. 78 responses were received which were analyzed using the SPSS software and the data findings proved that Green Procurement, Green Innovation and Total Quality Management have positive impact on Sustainability. This research will help pharmaceutical organizations, manufacturing companies and government in order to identify what is the impact on sustainability if organizations adhere to these green practices and how overall economic benefit can be achieved.
