Abstract:
This project explores the optimization of logistics operations at the SOST Border Dry Port, emphasizing the integration of smart logistics systems, infrastructure upgrades, and sustainability practices within Huawei’s supply chain. Located in a high-altitude region, the SOST port poses unique challenges such as rugged terrain, extreme weather, and limited infrastructure. The study focuses on leveraging advanced technologies like IoT, AI, and blockchain to improve transportation, warehousing, and customs clearance processes. It also aligns with Huawei’s strategic objectives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to enhance regional connectivity and trade efficiency. The research emphasizes critical developments, including the adoption of IoT-enabled monitoring systems, predictive analytics for route optimization, and blockchain-based documentation for secure and transparent customs processes. Infrastructure upgrades, such as enhanced road networks, automated warehousing systems, and high-altitude vehicles, have significantly improved transit times, inventory accuracy, and cost efficiency. Sustainability initiatives, including energy-efficient systems and eco-friendly practices, have reduced the carbon footprint of logistics operations. Despite these successes, the study identifies several limitations, including high initial investment costs, infrastructure constraints, and technological adaptation challenges in high-altitude environments. Future research is recommended to address these gaps by advancing workforce development, expanding renewable energy integration, and scaling the SOST logistics model to other emerging markets. This research contributes to Huawei’s commitment to logistics innovation, supply chain sustainability, and regional economic growth. The findings provide a replicable framework for high-altitude and emerging markets, offering a sustainable and innovative approach to logistics management.
