dc.description.abstract In the last couple of decades, the number of vehicles has increased drastically in Pakistan. With this increase, it has become difficult to keep track of each vehicle for purpose of law enforcement and traffic management. The traffic management specifically in Pakistan has lack of resources and command and therefore are not able to strive their duties properly. The corruption in this sector has been increased dramatically in the last couple of years. The traffic officers tend to collect bribe instead of issuing a ticket and the entire system have been collapsed. To overcome this threated issue and to reduce hand corruption a system has been introduced by the name of ATS (Automatic Ticketing System) Automatic Ticketing System is used increasingly nowadays for automatic issuance of ticket upon traffic violation, maintaining traffic activities and law enforcement. Many techniques have been proposed for Automatic Ticketing System, each having its own advantages and disadvantages. The basic step in Automatic Ticketing System is when the car enters into the speed tracking zone, Leddar sensor evaluation kit (LIDAR) will send a beam to the car and back and this time will be given to the CPU (Processor) which will calculate the speed of the oncoming vehicle, if the speed of the car is above certain limit than the Processor will generate a command to the Webcam. Due to this command the Webcam will capture the image of the oncoming vehicle and then further that captured image will be send to the Processor, after that part is completed then the MATLAB will do the image processing to extract the characters out. Once the alphanumeric characters are extracted of the vehicle which has violated the traffic law a ticket for over speeding will be issued. en_US
