Abstract:
A GIS-based spatial analysis of Hydrogeological parameters of the study area has been conducted. The parameters analyzed include calcium, magnesium, sodium potassium and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). The elevation and water table were also contoured. The technique utilized for the contouring was that of simple rigging without any drift of data in Software Surfer. The geomorphology is described with the help of the elevation contour map and the local map of the area. The zone of saturation for the area was marked with the help of water tables recorded in each well by generating a potentiometric surface map of the area. The concentrations of chemical constituents in the area describe the chemistry of groundwater in the area. The contouring of these constituents shows the distribution and the most probable sources and there pathways for traveling in the saturated zone. Majorly the source of the constituents lie in the Northern and the Southern portions and it gradually decreases in the center of the basin. Some of the higher concentration may be attributed to the rapid population growth in the area and there of giving rise to the construction of more industries and the advanced cultivation activities in the study area.
