Abstract:
This dissertation contains the study and interpretation of 2D seismic reflection data of selected seismic lines of Missa Keswal area, Upper Indus Basın, Pakistan The main objective of this research was delineation of subsurface structures favorable for hydrocarbon accumulation. This area is situated in the Chakwal District of Punjab Province and is licensed to Oil and Gas Development Corporation Limited (OGDCL) The seismic data for this dissertation was provided by the Land Mark Resources (LMKR) by the permission of Directorate General of Petroleum Concessions (DGPC) The data comprised four seismic lines, base map and well tops of well Missa Keswal-01 The names of lines obtained are (994 GNA-11. 994-GNA-11 994-GNA-14 994-GNA-15 994-GNA-19 and 994-GNA-21)
Three prominent reflectors (green, pink, blue) were marked on the basis of their reflection character. They represent Chorgali, Khewra and Basement respectively Two-way time (TWT) was read from the seismic sections and average velocities were used to create TWT and Depth Contour maps. Geological cross-section and isopach contour maps Chorgali and Khewra formations were prepared on the basis of which a new well location was proposed. Rock physical studies followed by petrophysical studied were done for Chorgali Formation which proved it to be the reservoir formation in the well Missa Keswal-1 This was followed by reserve estimation which indicated the presence of huge reserves in this reservoir
