Abstract:
The seismic lines of 93-MEYAL-04, 97-MEYAL-04, 97-MEYAL-11 and 97-MEYAL-12 were provided by the Department of Earth Sciences, Bahria University, for interpretation. The given lines are oriented in east to west direction. The sections are pre-stacked time migration sections. The RMS Velocities at different times were given; using these velocities we have calculated the average velocities, with the help of VAS (velocity analysis system). Then the iso-velocity curves are drawn and time-depth graph are made for determining the reflection time at the given depth. With the help of time-depth graph and encountered well depths, seven reflectors are marked, named as R1 (Chinji), R2 (Kamlial), R3 (Muree), R4 (Kohat), R5 (Chorgali), R6 (Upper Ranikot-Patala) and R7 (Basement). Using reflection time, two way time contour map is made and mean average velocity method is employed for the estimation of depths of the reflectors. The resulting time, depth sections showed similar patterns with the seismic section. The stratigraphic succession and geological information together produced a reliable picture of the reflectors and the structure lying in the sub-surface of the area. Finally "Rock Physics" is used to establish relationship between seismic expression and the physical properties at the end; for this purpose the interval velocities are used for the calculation of elastic parameters like bulk modulus and shear modulus.
