Abstract:
The hydrogeologic setting of the study area has been elaborated with the help of lithological logs, and chemical analyses of the groundwater provided by the WAPDA published reports. A lithological model has been constructed with the help of the borehole logs in Software Rockware, which shows three types of aquifers unconfined, confined and perched aquifers accompanied by the clay aquitards. These combine to make a single aquifer system. The major regional aquifer is the unconfined aquifer and its nature changes southwards i.e. it becomes semi-unconfined. The confined aquifer and the perched aquifers are of limited extent. The recharge of the area lies in the North established by the help of the contouring of water table in the area. The spatial distribution of the chemical constituents was also assessed and it has been found that the area of greater concentration of these constituents lie in the northern part of the study area. The concentration gradually decreases towards south.
