Abstract:
The health behaviors of adolescents are being affected by the high use of screen time and low green time participation in this developing era of technology. The exact impacts of too much screen time and not enough green time on these behaviors are still up for discussion, though, particularly in developing countries like Pakistan. The main purpose of this study was to assess the effects of excessive screen time and insufficient green time on the health-related behaviors of adolescents in Islamabad, aged 12 to 19, who were currently enrolled in schools and colleges in Islamabad, specifically sector G9. A sample of 149 adolescents was selected from a total population of 242 using a cross-sectional study methodology. A scale measuring screen time, green time, was adopted and the scale for health behaviors was adapted to assess physical activity, nutrition, mental well- being and sleep. A pilot test was run for the questionnaire to check its reliability, after which the questionnaire was ready for the research. The results indicated that there is no significant impact of high screen time or low green time on the health behaviors of the adolescents in this study. This shows that other factors, such as socioeconomic status, family dynamics, and psychological health, may have a more considerable effect on the health behaviors of adolescents. The study focused on the health behaviors of adolescents, which can be affected by many factors and affect their daily performance as students. The absence of a meaningful correlation emphasizes the need for a more thorough examination of the many factors affecting adolescent health making them vulnerable to diseases and disorders. Future policies should emphasize the health promotion of the adolescent's health and well-being.
