Abstract:
The research work aims to construct 3D Static Reservoir Model of Sands of Lower Goru Formation. This leads to advanced and detailed study of subsurface structural framework, petrophysical parameters and reservoir heterogeneities. The ultimate goal is to identify new sweet spots for future drilling. The study was conducted on NIM-TAY Block, Lower Indus Basin, Pakistan. To build Static Reservoir Model, 3D seismic data and petrophysical logs (acquired from DGPC) were analyzed. Bedding geometry of strata and specific fault behavior was established using 3D seismic data. Moreover, reservoir potential of Lower Goru Formation was established using Petrophysical logs. Seismic data interpretation helped in understating the geological structures (Horst and Graben) formed in the study area. Fault and horizon interpretation lead to better understanding of structural setting of the study area. The study proceeds in a very systematic manner i-e. Form seismic data interpretation to petrophysical analysis and finally to the construction of 3D static reservoir model. Results obtained from seismic data interpretation and petrophysical analysis suggest Sands of Lower Goru Formation to have good reservoir properties in term of facies distribution, good porosity and permeability values, moderate NTG and lower water saturation. The model also indicates the reservoir to have economic hydrocarbon accumulation potential. By studying this model, better, clearer and advanced understanding, regarding reservoir properties was achieved. The model helped in delineating spatial distribution of continues as well as discrete reservoir parameters. Hence, a framework was achieved regarding future prediction of production and performance behavior of interested reservoir i-e Sands of Lower Gora Formation. The static model constructed, after careful examination and detailed analyses demands for further drilling in order to enhance better optimization of the reservoir.
