dc.description.abstract Due to the increase in demand for large civil infrastructure geophysical engineering is becoming more important. Engineering geophysics is used to investigate near-surface physio-chemical phenomena which are of great importance in managing the local environments. Before the construction the variation in near-surface layers need to be mapped.to map the near-surface layers and to estimate their velocities seismic refraction survey was carried out. The obtained information is used to estimate elastic properties, geophysical engineering properties and site characterization of the area which gives estimate about the strength of rock and soil in the study area these properties are then used to identify suitable zones for construction, civil engineering projects and for industrial sites. The processing and interpretation of the data is performed on a highly interactive software. data processing is carried out by using K-tron SeiRA and interpretation was done by using SEE seismic engineering engine this software helps to computes all engineering parameters from near surface model and generate Contour maps for; elastic moduli, soil amplification factor, soil fundamental period, allowable bearing pressure, standard penetration test, average horizontal spectral amplification which are used for site characterization of the study area and helps in quick visualization of all parameters for efficient interpretation and engineering decisions. en_US
