Abstract:
The Turkwal / Fimkassar Area and part of Adhi Structure lies within the Potwar sedimentary basin which geology has been extensively studied, mapped & its stratigraphic units are well established. The structure is a fault propagation folding of Plio-Pleistocene age striking NE-SW the fault is down-thrown to the SE. The Seismic line 97- CP-06 lies in the Project Area of the Potwar fore land basin. In seismic reflection survey the travel time measured with waves reflected from subsurface between media of different acoustic impedance and this constructs a reflector on a seismic time section. In order to understand the structure of Project Area 2D Seismic data, consisting of five seismic lines (CP-04, CP-05, CP-06, CP-07, and CP-12) were re-interpreted. The interpretation also includes the construction of depth section & time contour maps for top Eocene & Precambrian basement well were also developed. The well data of Fimkassar -2 was used to confirm the reflector depth. The results of this study helped in better understanding the variation in the subsurface structure & stratigraphy of Project Area. The fractured carbonates of Chorgali & Sakesar Formation Eocene age are the major producing reservoirs in the Project Area.
